Our Commitment to Excellence:
At Sandringham Veterinary Hospital, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality care without the high costs often associated with referral hospitals.
Understanding Elbow Dysplasia:
Canine elbow dysplasia (ED) is a condition involving multiple developmental abnormalities of the elbow joint. The elbow joint is a complex joint made up of three bones (radius, ulna, and humerus). If these bones don’t fit together perfectly due to growth abnormalities, it can cause pain, lameness, and arthritis. The forces on the elbow due to the poor fit between the bones can lead to permanent loss of cartilage, bone cracks, and sometimes fractures of the coronoid process, a small bone inside the elbow. This small bone then acts like a pebble in a shoe, causing permanent pain and discomfort.
We offer a cost-effective approach to elbow dysplasia treatment, ensuring the best value for you and your pet.

The Treatment Journey:
Evaluation: Our experienced team evaluates your pet’s condition through an orthopaedic physical exam.
- X-rays are performed to classify the degree of dysplasia (poor fit)
- CT scan is performed to investigate the process of small fractures on the coronoid process
- Surgical removal of any disease bone or fracture coronoid process
We guide your pet through a comfortable recovery with cost-effective care instructions and attentive follow-up appointments.
